What is Agoraphobics United?
Agoraphobics United began as a simple petition born from my own struggles. Today, it is a platform for sharing our stories and driving change. I am here to amplify the voices of people with agoraphobia.
My journey started with a routine task: renewing my driver's license. I was required to visit in person to update my photo. The nearest branch was too far from my home. I reached out for help. They mentioned a mobile branch that served correctional facilities and special events—but only after it was too late. No one offered to bring the service to my home. Instead, I received a dismissive response. I was left without a license, and my means to leave my home was taken away. I was angry and frustrated.
I spent years and tens of thousands of dollars trying to resolve this issue. I still do not have my license. This experience made me wonder how many others suffer in silence. Many people feel ashamed and believe that their voices do not matter because stepping outside feels impossible.
I created this website to change that. Here, you can share your experiences and challenges. We will gather your stories and organize campaigns to speak with lawmakers. I plan to use innovative tools, including artificial intelligence, to connect our voices and build persuasive messages for those in power. Together, we can show that our concerns are real and deserve action.
